doubt like many of you, I am a gadget freak. That means that
I am always connected to e-mail and IM (and other
communication tools) via a smart phone, a Samsung BlackJack
in my case. I'm always looking for new tools to make my
smart phone more useful, and I recently found one that is
extraordinary and allows me to enjoy my love of gadgets
along with my love of something that we see a lot of here in
Texas; severe weather.
When I got my smart phone, I searched high and low for
high-quality, real-time weather radar. Like many other
weather nuts, I want to be able to keep an eye on
approaching bad weather so that I can try and get as close
to it as possible! I tried all of the products I could find,
but they all produced either grainy, low-resolution radar,
radar images far too small to be useful, or radar that was
updated so infrequently as to be completely useless.
That all changed a few days ago when I found
SWIFT
Mobile. This product is perfect for my needs. It
provides high quality radar in real-time, and it allows me
to add GPS points so that I can track storms as they
approach my house, my son and daughter's school, and any
other point I choose. Best of all, because it does all of
this from my phone, I have immediate access to it wherever I
am!
 SWIFT
Weather recently dropped the price of SWIFT Mobile
subscriptions and they're now as affordable as other
services such as WeatherTAP. You pay about 10 bucks a month,
but the peace of mind and quality of the information is
worth many times that.
Because SWIFT Mobile is not yet available for my device,
I haven't had the pleasure of using it myself, but I've seen
others demo it and I was amazed. I'm told it will be
available soon for non-touch screen smart phones. I hope the
bad weather will hold off until I can get my hot hands on
this excellent product!
